Laudato Si Dialogue: Critical Opportunities in 2021 to create change: call for an integral path.
This webinar will highlight key political opportunities in 2021 to create change, with a focus on the UN climate conference (COP 26) and the UN biodiversity conference (COP 15) and the need for an integral approach. We will hear from the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and from indigenous and youth leaders on the key role these conferences must play in building back better after the COVID 19 pandemic, achieving global goals, restoring harmony between humanity and nature, and building a culture of care and justice..

Laudato Si Dialogue on Energy and Fossil Fuels: Global Catholic Divestment Drumbeat
An online dialogue to raise awareness about the role of energy and fossil fuels in the crisis of our common home, including health impacts, while bringing attention to the Vatican’s divestment guidelines and the largest faith and Catholic divestment commitment to date. The panel will encourage the audience to consider the importance of ethical investment guidelines and invite them to join LSAP to guide their path.

Eco-spirituality brings hope to a troubled world. Please join us for an opportunity to share in the fruitfulness of the work of Sowing Hope for the Planet. In this session, we will journey with men and women religious engaged in promoting Laudato Si'. We will celebrate stories of ecological conversion, both personal and communal. Examples of integrating conscious prayer and sacred action will be shared.
During the event, the Creation Care Prayer Network will be presented and promoted.

Laudato Si Festival “Songs for creation”.
The cultural festival “Songs for Creation” will present biodiversity lost in the world and its consequences, focusing on the biodiversity problems in the artists’ and musicians’ regions.
Given the complexity of the ecological crisis and its multiple causes, we need to realise that the solutions will not emerge from just one way of interpreting and transforming reality. Respect must also be shown for the various cultural riches of different peoples, their art and poetry, their interior life and spirituality (LS #63)
During the event, the Vatican’s message for World Biodiversity Day will be spotlighted, the winners of the photo contest Laudato Si Moment will be announced, and winners of the Laudato Si Story Contest will be presented.

(Pentecost). Laudato Si’ Special Anniversary Year Closing Praying Gathering / Missionary Sending
We will celebrate a closing Praying Gathering from Assisi and Rome to express our gratitude to God our Creator and ask for assistance in the work to come. On this feast of Pentecost, in which we also celebrate the beginning of the Church, we want to make a missionary-like sending of local Laudato Si’ Animators and other pastoral agents, so that they may go and announce "the Gospel of Creation" (LS chapter 2) in every corner of the globe. Given the evangelisation theme, the celebration will be led by Cardinal Tagle.

Register an event or an action
Not sure what kind of event to organize? Here are some easy ideas for both online and offline events.
For face-to-face events, always make sure that your event complies with the COVID-19 regulations in your area, keep a safe distance, require the use of masks and avoid any kind of contact and proximity between people.
If your action is face-to-face, do not forget to record a video of the action and send it by WhatsApp to +1 2022777217 and if it is online, take a screenshot where you can see as many participants as possible and send it by WhatsApp or to [email protected]
Offline / Face-to-Face Events:
- Bell Ringing for Climate Justice. Ask your pastor to ring the church bells for 3 minutes for the victims of the climate crisis and as a wake-up call. Let’s break the silence against climate change.
- Blackout for creation. Invite your neighbors to hold a blackout for creation. On a certain day and time in the evening, have everyone turn off the lights in their homes. You can also ask the main temple in your area to turn off its exterior lighting.
- Prayer Gathering. “For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them” (Mt. 18:20). You can organize a Rosary for Creation (here are meditations you can use) or a Prayer Gathering (here is a guide). You can also simply get together and sing some songs.
- Public Meditation. Meet with 3 or more people in a public place in your city. Carry a sign that says “Live Laudato Si”, “Laudato Si Week”, or other creation care messages you think your community should see. Here is a script for the meditation.
- Procession or walk. Invite the parish community to a procession or walk through the center of your town. You can walk praying, singing, making noise, carrying signs with slogans for a just and sustainable recovery and much more. Put your imagination to work and don’t forget to keep a safe distance (at least 1 meter between each participant), as Catholics, we must always set the example.
- Mass for Creation. Talk to your Pastor about having one of the week’s Masses dedicated to praying for the victims of the climate crisis, the loss of biodiversity, giving thanks to the Creator for his gifts, or for all of these.
Online events:
- Community or urban garden festival. A Facebook Live, Youtube, Zoom, Meet or any other platform to showcase community and personal gardens, share tips and techniques, encourage teamwork and inspire others to grow their own food.
- Recycling webinar. How to recycle the waste we produce? If there is someone in your community with experience in waste recycling, invite them to give a talk or workshop and invite your community to participate. We can all reduce the impact of our habits. Let’s learn how.
- Laudato Si Reading. Have you read the encyclical and has it been read in your community? Organize an online event to read, meditate and act on some passages of Laudato Si.
- Film Forum. Organize a film forum to share a documentary on the climate crisis and then discuss concrete actions to take in your community. You can share “An Inconvenient Truth“, “Climate Refugees” or something shorter like Pope Francis’ Ted Talk.
- Share the Week on Social Media. We have prepared several resources to share the Week on social networks. We invite you to use them on a daily basis. You can see them here.
- Invite your community to the global events. We have prepared an event for each day of the week. You can see the complete agenda in the previous section of this page. Invite your community to register and participate. After the global event you can organize an online dialogue to share ideas and take action.
You can also organize an online prayer, a conference on Laudato Si, the Climate Crisis, its impact on the most vulnerable and much more. The important thing is to meet, dialogue and, above all, take concrete actions to implement on a personal and community level.
Also remember that during Laudato Si Week 2021 we will have a Day of Action on Friday, May 21. On this day we invite you to promote the Catholic Climate Petition. A campaign addressed to the United Nations and its national representatives to fulfill the Paris agreement and protect biodiversity. You have more information in the section “Guide to the Catholic Petition for Communities” below.
Here are the steps to follow for registering an event or activity:
- Click on “Register an event or action“. Once on the registration page you must click on the green “CLICK TO ORGANIZE” button.
- Before you start, read the instructions in the text box and then press OKAY!
- If you have problems with the language, at the top right you have the option to change to your preferred language.
- If this is the first time you are using Action Network, you will need to create an account when registering the event.
- Fill in all the fields in the event form. You can find event suggestions in the “Event ideas for Laudato Si’ Week” section on this page.
- If it is an offline / face-to-face event, you must fill in all the address fields. Tip: in the “Location Name” field you should include the name of the place where the event will take place or a reference, for example: my house.
- If it is an online event, in the fields related to the address you can put the name of the platform where the event will take place or the link to participate, for example “zoom”. Please note that the only field you will have to fill in correctly is the country, for which you must choose your country from the drop-down menu.
- IMPORTANT: Please, in the field called “Host Contact Information” include the type of event you are organizing, you can copy and paste any of the following options:
- Offline / Face-to-Face Event
- Live Broadcast (social media or radio)
- Online prayer meeting
- Online workshop or training
- Other online event
- Global Day of Action event
- In addition, in the lower fields of the form you can add an image and a brief description of your event.
- Make sure all the information is complete and correct. Once you are ready, click on the button to save your event.
Remember that you can log in to your account to manage your event and also invite people to participate, don’t forget to share it with your friends and family!
